Once upon a Tuesday (today)

It's 7:35am and I'm missing you.

I love this song very much ! :)

*deng deng deng deng deng deng deng ... *

早安!I.M.Y :)

Publish Post.

VAB & Friends PRODUCTION !!

Nope, it should be called VAB & Friends' PRODUCTION.
As I was told by Anna earlier that Vivienne said, the New Year MV that we produced should be labelled as Vivienne, Anna, and Bowie's PRODUCTION cuz we are the main torque behind the whole thing, but then again, its the involvement of all of us.

Prior to what I mentioned above, Vivienne Oon came out with an idea of making a CNY'11 MV, for Wanderers, and by Wanderers. Both songs are written and composed in a very short notice, especially the arrangement, all the way from recording the vocals and instruments and mastering the tracks, its not perfect I know, but its the best that we could do in such short notice. Things are not slowing down until just now when I finished mastering the tracks and Anna put it up together with the video.

Patrick Ang suggested me to add some 'essence of CNY', e.g. sound clips of fire crackers etc. etc. When I almost agree with him, I remembered that the main objective was to create a CNY song that doesn't sound anything like its CNY. Suggestion ignored. Sorry Patrick, it will, and will stay as BLUEISH as it can be. But the intro part does sounded very 'chinese new year' already. Wait till all of u listen to it :)

A MUSICALLY-INDULGED FORTNIGHT

I'd say I am very much 'indulged' in music in these 2 weeks.

Performance for Wanderers's Song Composition Competition aka Internal Observation I must say there are a lot of talented juniors and of course, with nice attitude! It's always easy to cross through to the barrier of communication by playing music. Music speaks just one language, and one language of its own only. It feels great and overwhelmed to see that the juniors are so eager to attend their group's song practice's schedule!! Some even 5am daily for this week!! Well I'm attending mine at 6am so guess what! hahaha.

The competition will be held at Penang's Wawasan Open University's auditorium. Can't wait :)

More over I joined USM Chinese Society's Civic Party (文娱晚会), an event where the story is based on a small town changing accordingly to the given time frame of between 70s till current.
The expression lies on the changes from different era based on art and music.

I went for the audition without having the knowledge of I need to relate my performance with the theme of the night. Meaning that if I were to perform a song, I need to have my reasons on why is it performed and what does this song have to do with the theme. I bumped into Eugene and Lynette and they told me about it. I took my guitar along with me when I was waiting outside of the meeting place of the Program Group. We jammed awhile in bossa nova and came out with some medleys and we totally dig it. And so happens, I'm performing for the night with 3 of them now : Eugene, Lynette and Arsene. Awesome :)

ANYWAYS, just a mild expression after my last post of jazz fest.
New semester, new assignments and projects, and am much musically-indulged :)
Varsity life is awesome, make it worthwhile while you're at it.

Good night/morning.

Afterthoughts : Penang Jazz Festival 2010 !!

2 weeks later, the blog is dusty, and its not getting any better like the wine bottle does cuz if the wine bottle is dusty, means its about time to bear the luxury of tasting that bottle of richness. Well that's not the case for a blog so yea *what??*

Good morning!!

There were no major events for the past 2 weeks except Penang Jazz Festival 2010!!! Here are some captures on the night of 5th December,2010. It was both 4th and 5th but I'm attending 5th mainly because of the presence of Tommy Emmanuel !!

The whole thing was awesome. Since its the 7th fest, I hate to say that I missed the past 6 years of Penang Jazz Fest because it really did blew my mind away. RM60 was totally worth it!!

As we all know, the music appreciation level and the standards of differentiating good and bad music in this country is totally screwed up. ESPECIALLY when it comes to jazz, blues and classical, just how many people would try and blend themselves into that music?

Well here's what I thought :

1) Jazz is something that people have to discover it for themselves, it really requires one to LISTEN to it.

2) It's very 'busy' music, frequently evades straight statements of the melody, can be discordant (or sound discordant to the untutored ear, even when it's not).

3) Jazz is an enigma. Jazz takes some thought, whereas the kinds of music that is being played on major radio stations nowadays are packaged up and sold to the masses.

4) The poor representation of jazz to a public that might be attracted if they only really knew what real jazz was.

The hard work that the Jazz Fest Committee gives in to connect all the international artists and have them perform in this annual musical island festival is just awesome. People need to learn more about this form of art.

I'll be there to support this festival again, next year. And this time, it's gonna be 2 days, and I'll be carrying more of the records home. Hehe. Awesomeness!!

I love jazz :)
